Effective date: 27 October 2026

EasyOfficeFix (“we”, “us”) runs this website and an independent Office file repair service. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to www.easyofficefix.com and to files you send us by email.

The short version

  • We collect what you send us: your emails and any file you ask us to repair.
  • We do not run analytics tracking you across other websites.
  • The site shows advertising served by Google; Google and its partners use cookies for that.
  • We never sell your data, and we do not use files sent for repair for anything except repairing them.
  • Questions or requests: help@easyofficefix.com.

Information you give us

Emails you send. If you write to help@easyofficefix.com, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach — including the document you want repaired.

Files sent for repair. These files are used for one purpose: diagnosing and repairing that file. They are not published, resold, used as examples, or fed into any automated system beyond the repair itself. Working copies are deleted once you confirm the repaired file opens, and in any case within 30 days.

What we do not ask for. We never need your Office account password, your Microsoft account credentials, or remote access to your computer. If anyone claiming to be us asks for those, it is not us.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, our hosting provider (Tencent EdgeOne) records standard request data: IP address, browser user agent, referring page, requested URL and timestamp. This is used for delivering the site, keeping it available, and blocking abuse. We do not build profiles from it.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. This site uses them in two ways:

  1. Your preferences. The site remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, and the scroll position of the navigation bar. These are stored locally in your browser (localStorage), not on our servers.
  2. Advertising. Cookies set by Google and its partners, described below.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking advertising cookies does not stop the site from working; you will simply see non-personalised ads.

Advertising

This site is supported by advertising served by Google. When ads are displayed:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org.
  • For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a consent message is shown before advertising cookies are set, and ads are served on the basis of that choice.

We do not control the content of third-party ads, and clicking one takes you to a site governed by its own privacy policy.

Analytics

We do not currently run an analytics product, and we do not use tracking pixels that follow you across other sites. If that changes, this page will be updated before any such tool is switched on, and the section will name the provider and how to opt out.

How we use information

  • To reply to you and to carry out a repair you asked for.
  • To keep the site online and secure.
  • To show advertising that funds the free guides on this site.
  • To meet legal obligations, if a lawful request is made.

Under the GDPR, our legal bases are: performance of a contract or steps taken at your request (repairing your file), legitimate interests (keeping the site running, replying to enquiries), and consent (advertising cookies where consent is required).

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. Data is shared only with:

  • Our hosting and CDN provider, which processes requests to deliver the site.
  • Our email provider, which stores and transmits messages sent to help@easyofficefix.com.
  • Advertising partners (Google), in the cookie sense described above — they receive cookie-based signals, not the contents of your emails or files.
  • Authorities, where we are legally required to respond.

Retention

  • Repair files: deleted after you confirm the repaired file opens, and no later than 30 days.
  • Emails: kept while the conversation is active and for up to 24 months afterwards, so that a follow-up question about the same file can be answered.
  • Server logs: retained briefly by the hosting provider for security purposes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to receive a copy of it. California residents have the right to know what is collected and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — we do neither.

To exercise any of these, email help@easyofficefix.com with the request. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm you control the email address involved. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is aimed at adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Files and emails are handled on access-controlled systems, and working copies are removed on the schedule above. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so if a file is highly sensitive, say so before sending it and we will arrange a different transfer route.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes — a new advertising partner, a new analytics tool — will be described in this section rather than slipped in silently.
